Remember my teaser from my previous post? A box of canning jars?
If you will look at my title, I said "lighting" not lightning bugs! Please read along and I will explain...
I love unusual lighting! And I've always wanted to capture the glow of the lightning bugs in a jar! Several months ago I found sources that featured this type of lighting. Sooooo, what do I do but ask (
After purchasing the necessary tools...the hubby worked his magic!
But, oh no! He couldn't stop there!
Catching lighting in a jar...
He used old Ball Jars for this line of lights...Some were the very old blue ones!
There are many ways to string the jars together to create the look you want...
I just love the way both look...
The lights are hung on the porch...look at that view!!
For a party I added more mason jars to light up the night!
...candlelight!
And of course I added redneck wine glasses for the party! Again created using mason jars! Y'all know a nice glass was needed to sip that
And there it is... my own jars of lighting bugs...
Have you used jars in unusual ways? I would love to hear from you!
See ya down the junkin' road!!

Love your mason jar lighting! Yes they bring back days when I was a little on catching lightening bugs!
I have mason jars for drinking glasses for my kitchen and love them!
Have a great weekend!
This is such a cute idea. I love it, and it does remind me of lightning bugs. xo
Looks very cute! I haven't found anywhere in my house that I think they would go but I do love the way others have used them. maybe for my porch light?? what do you think?
Jan, this turned out so neat! I love the jars used as lighting. And, I still collect lightening bugs with my 6 yr old. I love them! Thank you for joining me at Home Sweet Home!

Oh. My. Goodness. I totally love this. What a handy guy...you are lucky to have someone to make your visions come true!
Blimey, what a lovely idea. If only we were able to get such gorgeous jars over in the UK - might have to put more honey on my porridge just to find some nice jars!
Hi Jan,
Your jars turned lights are wonderful!!!!!!!

Love this! Lucky you to have a talented husband, too. Looks so fabulous.
Your lighting jars turned out great! I don't have a husband to work the magic so guess I won't be making any.
Have a great weekend.

I'm usually not jealous of someone with a mason jar unless it's full of white lightning... um, lighting. Those are a delight. Yeah, I said it.
Wow, these are delightful. I definitely want to get me some mason jars -- thanks for the inspiration.

Wow this is so beautiful! I love this idea! This is the reason I love mason jars - so many possibilities!!!!! I love the pictures of the different ways you've used them! I used one to make a pin cushion button jar!
I've seen this done before and simply love the look! I'm a big chicken and would be hesitant about the dumb wiring. lol I also read a concern re: heat build-up within the enclosed jars. Have you seen anything about that?
I first saw this look at the High Point furniture market 3 years ago. It takes a while for the retail product to get into the mainstream, of course. This would be such an economical alternative to the high priced retail items. Did your husband just drill into the lids to insert the lightbulb fixture and how was it attached on top? Very interested here! Who knows- I might have to make some of my own! ~ Sue
So adorably cool! I love the way they are all grouped together to make a chandelier! Perfect for outside. What a really great project. XO Cindy
Awesome lights lady! Love the versatility of mason jars!
