Have you seen the movie?
(source)
Many critics say it lacks... blah, blah, blah!
That it doesn't go far enough...blah, blah, blah!
Receives only 2 1/2 stars out of 4 or 5... blah, blah, blah!!
More than two decades in the making, George Lucas’ passion project “Red Tails” hit theaters on Friday, January 20, 2012!
(source)
Now at my age I don't pay alot of attention to movie critics! If I want to see it then I usually do!!
(or for that matter I was this way even in my young age!!)
The hubs and I spent the afternoon at the movies! It was filled with action...remember it is George Lucas, creator of Star Wars and Indiana Jones!!
And it is history packed...it recognizes the Tuskegee Airman. These men were trained in Alabama!
Portrait of Tuskegee airman, Edward M. Thomas, by photographer, Toni Frissell, March 1945
This is a photograph of a few of the actors portraying the airmen...
The Story
"The Tuskegee Airmen were a group of African-American fighter pilots who
were trained despite the racism entrenched in the U.S. armed services
during World War II. They were deployed in action and achieved fame and
many decorations for their skills against German pilots, which included
engaging and shooting down Messerschmitt Me 262s, the first jet
fighters. So successful were they at escorting American bombers that the
white pilots requested them — contradicting a 'study' at the time that
claimed 'Negroes lack the intelligence to operate heavy machinery.' " —
Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times

Now I know movies are fantasy but Red Tails is based on fact. I feel it brings to light history that oftentimes is skipped over in the books. It gives a glimpse into the lives of these brave young men...the Tuskegee Airmen.
Have y'all seen any good movies lately? It is always fun to have a movie date!!
See ya down the junkin' road!!

A Tween's Dilemma?
My friend's daughter has been updating her bedroom. She is a "tween" and wants a more 'grown-up' look but still playful!
So today we've looked at headboards!
I like the chalkboard...a tween look with a little whimsy!
(Maureen Toribio)
The shutters add a touch of romance... This is a pretty look...
(I don't think daddy is ready for his little girl to be ready for romance!)
(fleamarketstyletrixie)
This is a contender with a variety of color choices...
(sford)
Again tweaking the colors and this one could work...
(tendenza fl)
Now remember we are still looking at headboards for a tween...but I would love this one for me!!
( Candice Olsen)
And this one is just timeless...
(via Sarah Richardson)
Or she may just go with budget-friendly decals...
(dodi)
So many choices...
Of course the deciding vote will go to the "tween." I know with mom's help she will make the right choice! I'm so happy she is interested in design! Who knows we may have a future 'diy-er blogger'!!

An Award
My friend over at http://simplypractical.blogspot.com/
sent me this award! It is awarded to those blogs who have 200 or less friends! Thanks so much Bama Girl! Drop by and visit with her!
"This award is given to bloggers with less than 200 followers, in the hopes that it will bring many new friends/followers.
Leibster is German and means 'dearest' or 'beloved but it can also mean 'favorite'. The idea of the Leibster award is to bring attention to blogs with less than 200 followers. So, in the spirit of good fun I am passing this award on to five other bloggers. Please stop by and visit them."
The rules are
1. Show your thanks to the blogger who gave you the award by linking back to them.
2. Reveal your five picks for the award and let them know.
3. Post the award on your blog.
4. Bask in the love from the most supportive people on the blogshare-other bloggers.
5. Finally and the best rule of all..........have fun and spread the love!
It was very difficult to choose just a mere five! But here goes...

Celebrity Nursery
While surfing the channels I landed on The Rachel Ray Show! ( that's changing TV channels rather quickly to find anything that is useful and makes lots of noise while I'm doing the most favorite job...NOT... LAUNDRY!!
Now I love Rach!
(wiki photo)
Her guest...Tiffani Thiessen
(wiki photo)
Many of you may remember a very young 'Kelly' on Saved by the Bell...
(wiki photo)
Or you may remember the name from her days as the saucy Valerie Malone on Beverly Hills 90210...
(wiki photo)
Her latest television show is White Collar...
(wiki photo)
She plays Elizabeth Burke, loving wife of FBI agent, Peter Burke. And as the new season debuts Elizabeth Burke is missing...kidnapped!!
(wiki photo)
White Collar is shown on USA Network. Check your local stations for date and time!
Along with promoting the show she has her own nursery line! Now how cute is that?
The new line is called PetitNest. A beautiful line of nursery products!
( weedecor )
This is a photograph of her own nursery! Don't you love the color she chose?
Her line includes the crib, bedding, and wall hanging! All very pretty!
Oh, there's the bell...more laundry to fold!! LOL I hope you are having a great day doing household chores too!
See ya down the junkin' road!!

Mardi Gras Table
I was up to the challenge...I knew I could complete the task...I had my game face on...I was ready...
The challenge? Set a table! Well that is no problem! I do that daily!
But now here's the catch...use paper products!
Soooo, off to the Dollar Tree for those must have items! Walking down the aisles I found lots and lots of paper products...birthday, wedding, school, valentine's day, mardi gras...whoa, stop right there! Mardi Gras! There's my inspiration!
I've always loved the colors of mardi gras...
Purple: signifies justice
Gold: represents power
Green: stands for faith
Bright, colorful, fun...party time!
I decided to use the hubby's handcrafted table for our lunch party for two! He built this table using the old western cedar that had been torn off the lake house's old porch. Very nice if I do say so myself!! LOL!!
On top of my red chargers I placed the square paper plate. Aren't the colors pretty?
Inside the sherbet I placed the paper napkins and of course the mask. At the mardi gras parties most party-goers wear masks!
Additional masks were scattered around the table.
I used my cake stands to add height to the center piece.
I added part of the King Cake (most of it had been eaten, gobbled up, and the baby had been found before I started this challenge) on the the first cake plate. Adding the beads, masks, and the crown made a simple but festive center to the table.
And there you have it...mardi gras lunch for two!
The King Cake is an apple cinnamon pecan...yummy!
The paper products worked well for this lunch...
The meal you ask?
The hubby and I sat down to gumbo, salad with greens fromour his garden, crusty bread, and a glass of wine!
All in all a very fun party!!
Have you used paper products in your home lately? Please share! I like to hear your ideas!!
See ya down the junkin' road!!
