Wellll, my friend says...

HeeeeRRRResss.....J-GRITS!!

(I took a little liberty with that one!!) But I hope y'all haven't forgotten me or my blog!

I say all this to say... "I'm Back!

  And I'm so happy to be sharing again with all of you our adventures!

"Well where have you been?" you ask.

Nowhere, Everywhere, All Over!!
I didn't mean to take a vacay from blogland for sooooo long!

"What have you been doing all this time?" you ask.

Nothing, Everything, Busy, Busy!! 
You know sometimes "LIFE" just gets in the way! This time all has been good! We've traveled.
We've played. We've had fun together! We've celebrated 39 happy years of wedded bliss!
There's been family time, friends time, kids time, nap time...time, time, time!!
And along the way there's always been MUSIC!! And of course JUNKIN'!!

I hope you will follow along with our Adventures in Southern Junkin' as my friend and me continue to craft, create, redesign, re-purpose and share our junkin' finds!

Now since it is October I want to share my tablescape for Halloween...

I picked up the sign last year and have used it in our motor home too.

 The monogrammed pumpkin was a find at Pier One when we were at the beach this year.

The little wooden bucket needed something else so I added the funky flowers.

 
The cart has been hanging out on the porch and with the weather changing from hot to cold, fresh flowers just won't last! Besides that it adds a little whimsy on the porch!

A Card, A Table, Roses and Paper

Valentine's Day celebration is a-comin'...
nothin' says love like a box of chocolates and a beautiful card...vintage card representing Whitney Candy Company...

No vintage cards here...(insert sad face) but I did want to do something special! Sooooo

In honor of the day I accepted the challenge to set a festive table again using paper products!  Earlier I created a tablescape using paper products to celebrate MARDI GRAS!  You may go to the link and read.

A trip to the Dollar Tree to pick up the necessary paper goods...

Then a quick stop by the grocery to grab a bunch of flowers...( because nothin' says love like roses!)

Now to work I go...

I decided to set up a dessert table for the hubby and I on the porch using my 1800s table we rescued from my great-grands' home...

Notice the square nails used...

For me to create using the paper products is fun and makes a festive table...

January Magazine Challenge

I am very excited to join in the party with Debbie for the first magazine challenge of 2012!

I had planned a furniture challenge but the weather has been sooooo rainy I was unable to complete the task and without photos of anything! Oh well, that will become a later challenge!

Oh what to do, what to do...something for valentines'...
Browsing through my copy of Southern Lady I found the perfect challenge...

Luckily I had already picked up roses at the grocery store.  I can't pass by the floral displays without grabbing a bunch!

I quickly gathered my supplies from items I already had on hand...

I did not have the cute little candles or cups that look like bark so I downloaded a free photo of wood, fibrous bark!  Then with the wonderful paper cutter I cut strips to wrap my candles!

 And here it is...

I can imagine a grouping of these inverted glasses with roses on the table to celebrate Valentines', a bridesmaids luncheon, or anytime I need a quick, simple arrangement! It makes an 'oh so pretty focal point for any spot in your home.'

Mardi Gras Table

I was up to the challenge...I knew I could complete the task...I had my game face on...I was ready...

The challenge?  Set a table!  Well that is no problem!  I do that daily!
But now here's the catch...use paper products!

Soooo, off  to the Dollar Tree for those must have items!  Walking down the aisles I found lots and lots of paper products...birthday, wedding, school, valentine's day, mardi gras...whoa, stop right there!  Mardi Gras!  There's my inspiration!

I've always loved the colors of mardi gras...
Purple:  signifies justice
Gold:    represents power
Green:  stands for faith

Bright, colorful, fun...party time!

I decided to use the hubby's handcrafted table for our lunch party for two!  He built this table using the old western cedar that had been torn off the lake house's old porch.  Very nice if I do say so myself!! LOL!!

On top of my red chargers I placed the square paper plate.  Aren't the colors pretty?

Inside the sherbet I placed the paper napkins and of course the mask.  At the mardi gras parties most party-goers wear masks!

Additional masks were scattered around the table.

I used my cake stands to add height to the center piece.

I added part of the King Cake (most of it had been eaten, gobbled up, and the baby had been found before I started this challenge)  on the the first cake plate.  Adding the beads, masks, and the crown made a simple but festive center to the table.

And there you have it...mardi gras lunch for two!

The King Cake is an apple cinnamon pecan...yummy!

The paper products worked well for this lunch...

The meal you ask?
The hubby and I sat down to gumbo, salad with greens from our his garden, crusty bread, and a glass of wine!
All in all a very fun party!!
