A Wreath as a Reminder of Love

My Home's in Ala  Bama ...

I Bleed Crimson & White ...

I Yell Roll Tide Roll ...

And on Saturdays I  watch the Crimson Tide ...

Because in the South we have five seasons each year...
Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall...and Football!

I found this cute handcrafted burlap football.
Then I decided to add some ribbon and make a wreath for our door. I didn't have a pre-made wreath handy so I bent and twisted a wire coat hanger into the form I needed.  It is lightweight and molds easily.

I've received many compliments!  And it was quick and easy! I love working with this ribbon!

Now I know many of you do not share my enthusiasm for the University of Alabama!
Nor my passion for football! But I can say when I hear the National Anthem played on Saturdays I do get a little teary eyed AND stand a little taller and 'feel' my daddy's arms wrapped around me...for this was our special time...Alabama Football!!

Blessings!! And see y'all down the junkin' road!!

Howdy! I'm Back!

Minnie Pearl always said..."HOW  DEEE!" Always happy to see old & new friends!

And when introducing Johnny Carson on the Tonight Show,
Ed McMahon's famous words  were...
"HEeeeeRrrrrE'S ...Johnnnnnnny!"

Wellll, my friend says...
HeeeeRRRResss.....J-GRITS!!
(I took a little liberty with that one!!) But I hope y'all haven't forgotten me or my blog!

I say all this to say... "I'm Back!
And I'm so happy to be sharing again with all of you our adventures!

"Well where have you been?" you ask.

Nowhere, Everywhere, All Over!!
I didn't mean to take a vacay from blogland for sooooo long!

"What have you been doing all this time?" you ask.

Nothing, Everything, Busy, Busy!!
You know sometimes "LIFE" just gets in the way! This time all has been good! We've traveled.
We've played. We've had fun together! We've celebrated 39 happy years of wedded bliss!
There's been family time, friends time, kids time, nap time...time, time, time!!
And along the way there's always been MUSIC!! And of course JUNKIN'!!

I hope you will follow along with our Adventures in Southern Junkin' as my friend and me continue to craft, create, redesign, re-purpose and share our junkin' finds!

Now since it is October I want to share my tablescape for Halloween...

I picked up the sign last year and have used it in our motor home too.

The monogrammed pumpkin was a find at Pier One when we were at the beach this year.

The little wooden bucket needed something else so I added the funky flowers.

The cart has been hanging out on the porch and with the weather changing from hot to cold, fresh flowers just won't last! Besides that it adds a little whimsy on the porch!

Blessings...And see ya down the junkin' road...

My thoughts and prayers are with those on the East Coast and Inland
as they prepare to rebuild from the devastation left by the fury of Hurricane Sandy.

Fall Y'all...Chic Mantle

Yep, it's autumn! Or as we call it fall, y'all! My aunt's favorite time of year! She chose this season in which to marry! She loved the colors and chose Franciscan dinnerware in the Autumn pattern. She said the trees wore their prettiest dresses, so colorful...liked dressed for their fanciest ball!!

And because she loved it, I love it too! (may be a musical song hidden somewhere in that...ummmm)

How best to define fall or autumn...
Wikipedia definition:

Autumn is one of the four temperate seasons. Autumn marks the transition from summer into winter usually in September (Northern Hemisphere) or March (Southern Hemisphere) when the arrival of night becomes noticeably earlier. It is in between summer and winter.

Yes a transition...night coming earlier...nights noticeably cooler...changing colors...different smells in the air...endings...beginnings...holidays ...

Several years back (BB, before blogging) the hubby and I were traveling the Blue Ridge Parkway, following the color of the seasonIt was quite fun!  We were able to junk a little, take lots of photos, eat a lot!!

Of course the mill was a must photograph...one of the most photographed scenic places along the parkway...

So much fun! I recommend everyone who has the time to travel this historic byway!

And...unfortunately in our area...fall marks the end of the yard sailing season for most!  :(
But (and I know not to start a sentence with 'but') my friend and me did find a super great mantle that needed just a little TLC.

Remember I did say a little TLC!!
The mantle had good bones...

I had no fear as I knew the hubby could work his magic!!

I loved the shabby look...several coats of paint showing through the old white top layer...

Sooooo, may I present...from pieces to complete:

The mirror was in perfect condition. So lucky for us!

Decorating for fall...

Very cottage chic!!!
Have a Blessed Day!! And see ya down the junkin' road!!
