YeeHah! Cowhide!

Now as most of you know "I don't do cold weather"!! LOL
This week we've experienced bitterly cold weather for us.  Lows below freezing, oooohsie!  (that's southern for, baby it's cold out there!)
But one good thing about living in Alabama...

 ...wait for it, if you don't like the weather today, wait a couple of days and it will change
(and usually for the warmer and sunnier) And that's what happened yesterday and out the door I scampered!  I was going stir crazy!!

Stopped by a local antique mall and found cows!

Thrifty Yellow Chair

As a J-GRITS (junkin' girl raised in the south!) I am always on the look out for a deal, a bargain, a cheapy-freebie!!  My friend found such a fantastic deal recently!! Oh yeah, can you say FREE x 2!!

As the story goes someone did not want the hassle of restoring these two delightful girlies! They were pretty rickety...wobbly!  

Can you imagine?  It's like a sign was posted on these two...NOT WANTED!!

However in the minds of all good junkers...
This sad sap  :( , an unwanted little one, can change from this...

to an amazing that...

All it really takes is a little work!!  Yeah right!  Have you ever finished a project where it only required a little work??

After a really good scrubbing, sanding of the peeling layers,  (talkin'about several layers of paint now),  choosing just the right color...

Painting began!  (and began, and began, and...several coats of paint! Primer then yellow! I know probably did not choose the correct paint but what can I say...it was FREE!!)

Results...A bright, fun color of yellow! So cheery! So inviting!!

Now the two pretty girlies are all dressed for the PAR-TAY... proudly sitting on the dock on the lake with no unwanted sign posted!!

My friend can enjoy a cup of coffee, watch the sun rise, read the morning news...all in the comfort of her new (FREE) yellow chairs!! Oh, by the way, did I mention the backs recline?  Now the hunt is on for a couple of footstools!!

Frenchy Becomes a Tea Table

While on the junkin' road my friend and me found this little side table with the cutest frenchy legs but a disastrous top!  I put it back trying to decide how to remake it. First thought was to just use the legs with something else. Then (light bulb!!) repaint for a fun little girl's tea table!

Getting started...

Add a good base coat of paint. I chose a bluish gray oops paint! Then painter's tape to add random ivory stripes...

I painted this wooden child's chair to match...and there you have it...tea party time!!

Of course I wasn't completely satisfied so...numbers were stenciled.   
"Why the numbers 4 and 5?" asks my friend. "Just because," I answered, "4 and 5 are nice sounding numbers!"

The photos show a more purpley hue but really the color is a soft hint of blue!

If, of course, you do not have use for a tea table then it will make a fun lamp table! So many are redoing and decorating porches now that my little frenchy tea table will be just the needed whimsical addition!

Old Wicker, brings to mind...

I have a love for old wicker!  It reminds me of many happy days spent at my grandparents' home.  My friend will tell you quickly that I can not pass up a piece of wicker anything; especially if it is a good buy!!  I have in my possession an old wicker loveseat that belonged to my grandparents and an old wicker rocking chair that once sat on the front porch at my great-uncle's home!  (there's that pack rat tendency coming out again!!)

Imagine my excitement (giddy that's the word for it!) when last winter I found three pieces of cane and wicker...two chairs and one loveseat!  So I stored them over the long cold, rainy, snowy winter and waited!  When the warm temperatures appeared recently I brought them out, spruced them up with paint and new pillows and was ready to put them out on my porch!  Oh no!  That was not to be...for you see I already have a porch packed with wicker, iron and glass!!  No more room!  (imagine a really sad face here...:( ...)  Soooo


I placed them in my "spot" at Encore Resales...

Pretty huh??

It was with a mixture of sadness and happiness when I received the call...your wicker has sold!!!  Oh well...the HUNT is on, my friend!!!
