Peach Park and Refurbish Buffet

Oh yes, recently the junkin' road carried my friend and me to Clanton, Alabama, home of the
Peach Park!

Chilton County is known for its delicious home grown peaches!  Peach farming is a big business! And the results are simply scrumptious

Each year Clanton throws a  parrr-tee! ("We like a party!", says my friend.)

There are parades, music, carnivals, and of course peaches! And no, good, down home, southern town would be without its share of queens and princesses for the event!

At the Peach Park, photos of present and past winners are displayed! (It's really a big deal! And many people flock to this area during the event!)

The Peach Park is a destination for most traveling I65 between Birmingham and Montgomery!  Children know that this will be a stop along the way. (and don't ask how much farther?

There is a large area for running around, shopping and EATING!

Sandwiches, fruits, and vegetables are available for purchase. It's a great farmer's market!

BUT...my friend and me love the peach cobbler! And of course what could make it better than a scoop (maybe two) of vanilla ice cream! Yum, yum!

Traveling? Make the Peach Park one of your stops! You are in for a real treat!

Also, I want to share this refurbished buffet with y'all today!!  I found it for a real deal (should I say steal!!), for cheap! I know! It had to be mine! It was dirty! (Really dirty, I think it must have been stored in a barn for I found lots of straw inside! Maybe it had been a nest? Ummm?)

After cleaning, I layered on oops paint I found at Lowe's (Don't you just love Lowe's? I can wander around and around...)

The top is a chocolate brown and the rest is more a blue than my photo shows...
I decided to use the same handles, just upgraded with a little paint!

On top, please notice the chalkboard tray I painted! I'm really loving these! They make great gifts!

Well, there you have it! Peaches and a buffet...

Have a Blessed Day!! And see ya down the junkin' road!!

Down the Road to Lulu's Homeport

Oh yes, the junkin' road carried my friend and me to Gulf Shores, Alabama and to Lulu's Homeport! Now most of you will remember that Lulu is the sister of a well known singer/songwriter...Jimmy Buffet!!

Lulu's is famous! It is known for its great atmosphere, good food, good music, and good times! The location is perfect...right on the inter-coastal waterway...

Did I mention the view? Super!!

Lulu's caters to the family...

Outdoor gigantic gym for the kids to enjoy! (The children wore safety harnesses for their protection.)

Beach volleyball for all ages!

Dining outdoors...

(Thank goodness for the outdoor fans and cooling stations as it was hot, hot, HOT!!)

Musicians from all over come to play and sing on Lulu's stage. Even her famous brother, Jimmy, graciously appears in concert! (but never under his own name)

(This singer traveled from Louisiana to appear on stage)

Ahh, Lulu's Homeport...a destination!

The atmosphere is festive and fun! It's a party, happening now!

And speaking of a party I'm partying with...

Let Freedom Ring...and a Find!

Wow! I don't know about y'all but for us this 4th of July weekend just flew by!! One minute I was planning then the next I was collapsing from exhaustion! Any way I look at it though it was fun and worth every minute of time!

My find...

I found this uniform at the antique mall!  It fits with the "freedom ring" title of my post today! I am so thankful I live in the United States of America! I am thankful for our soldiers, both past and present, who courageously fight for those freedoms I fully enjoy! I say a prayer of thanksgiving each day!

While out playing on the lake this weekend my friends and me  (that's right I had many friends join in for the fun of the 4th!)  we found others that were just as patriotic as us!

Take a gander (slang for look see) at this boat all painted in the red, white, and blue...

Most docks, boats, banks and homes were spiffed up with the colors...

The beginning of a tablescape...

The junkin' road kept my friend and me close to home this holiday weekend! We enjoyed the food, the friends, the fellowship, the fireworks, the fun of living in the land of the free!

Let Freedom Ring, all year long, loud and clear!

Have a Blessed Day!! And see ya down the junkin' road!!

Lakepoint Resort and a Thrifty

The junkin' road carried us to Lakepoint Resort  located on Lake Eufaula in southeastern Alabama!

(Yes, the weather was hot! What do you expect? After all we are traveling in southern Alabama in June! And to tell you the truth I've lived in Alabama for ____, well, ummmm, let's see, ALL MY LIFE, and I do not remember the weather in June being this hot and dry for this long! Whew now that was a long windy sentence!!)

Back to my story...
After spending time in the downtown historic district (you must see the homes...to die for!)

we drove to the Lodge! Lakepoint Lodge has been totally renovated from top to bottom and it is quite welcoming!

Arriving...

Sooooo cool! Love the glass and metal!

The fabulous view from the dining area...

No people here, too hot! They were all gathered at the pool and in the water!!

One of several dining areas...
Breakfast was over and lunch was being prepared, thus the empty room!

The decor is lodge y  "Arts & Crafts"...(making a big comeback with many young marrieds today)

This bent twig chair is very comfortable. I can see a couple parked on my front porch!

Can't you just see this table behind a sofa as well...

(I wanted to "style" this table!)

I really wanted to load this pretty girl and bring back home with me! She would make a lovely statement in a foyer...

("Did you notice the legs on these old gals?" asked my friend. "Sweet!")

Pretty good reproductions, wouldn't you say?

Check-in over, now on to the important area for hot, tired travelers...

Rooms, beds, showers...

Lake view from our balcony...

Not only does Lakepoint Resort offer a lodge but cottages on the lake, cabins, and camping facilities! Hiking trails (too hot this weekend!), pool (yep, stayed in it!), golf, boating, fishing were some of the activities available. Check it out the next time you are in this area.

Now for a thrifty find...

Out junkin' with my friend, we stopped at a little thrift store. When I say little, I'm talking really small! But it was packed with treasures and I spied this dirty tin  tile! Purchase price...wait for it...$1. I was pretty excited!

After paint, some distressing, I layered old music sheets in the frame! I think it turned out pretty nice! I may add a "WELCOME" saying and hang it beside my front door! What do you think?

Partying with Linda at Coastal Charm...

Hitch a ride on the yellow golf cart and putt-putt on over!

(This cart was a nifty find too. It was a little rich for my blood however! Sorry, I can't remember the exact price but it was more than I was willing to pay that day! So I decided to leave it for the next shopper to ride home!)

Have a Blessed Day!! And see ya down the junkin' road!!

On the Road to...Eufaula, Alabama

Good Monday Morning!! My friend and me have been busy lately down the junkin' road!! Our travels have taken us to the historical city of Eufaula, Alabama!

Settled in the early 1800's, the town is located high upon a bluff overlooking 45000 acre Lake Eufaula.  The town has a significant number of beautiful restored homes.

Driving through the historical district...(can't you just see all the tea parties held on that ahh-mase-ing front porch)

In the spring Eufaula holds its annual pilgrimage...

Arriving in the downtown area...

Thrifty shopping...this antique store held many treasures...

The Goodwill Store, located smack, dab, downtown, had this display in honor or the upcoming July 4th celebration!

My friend and me spent several days in this lovely area. (I will be telling you more later...)  If you are in southeastern Alabama, along the Georgia line, stop by and visit Eufaula and all it has to offer! You won't be disappointed!!

Today I'm partying with Debbie...

And joining in the party over at...http://asoutherndaydreamer.blogspot.com/
for Outdoor Wednesday!

Grab a glass of ice tea, kick off your shoes, and enjoy the party!! (And tell them I invited you!!)

Have a Blessed Day!! And see ya down the junkin' road!!

A Father's Day Poem

Sending flowers to my dear daddy who made his little girl always feel so special...I love you and miss your wonderful smile, hugs, beautiful voice and words of encouragement...

A Poem for all...

Dad,
God took the strength of a mountain
The majesty of a tree,
The warmth of a summer sun,
The calm of a quiet sea,
The generous soul of nature,
The comforting arm of night,
The wisdom of the ages,
The power of the eagle's flight,
The joy of a morning in spring,
The faith of a mustard seed,
The patience of eternity,
The depth of a family need,
Then God  combined these qualities,
When there was nothing more to add,
He knew His masterpiece was complete,
And so, He called it...DAD

Wishing all a very happy Father's Day!

Have a Blessed Day with all those you love!
